Even if, for regulatory reasons, training in driving a locomotive is an obligatory stage for trainees, the additional training, maintenance and improvement of their skills is provided by simulation. It is the ideal tool for understanding the inertia phenomena operating on trains of several thousand tons, learning how to accelerate and stop a train of 100 wagons or more as required, or acquiring a driving technique that will reduce the train's energy consumption by 5 to 10 percent.
